Cedar Oaks Lakeside Resort

We had a marvelous time spending the evening at Cedar Oaks. The owners were highly kind and the accommodations wonderful. The cabin was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed the myriad of wildlife roaming the lake-edge areas, too. One suggestion, offering guests warm cookies or some similar treat will fully seal the deal.

We had an excellent stay at Cedar Oaks Lakeside Resort. The stunning lakeside view was a highlight, and Amanda, the manager, provided exceptional service, attending to all our needs. With its friendly staff and beautiful setting, it was a memorable and enjoyable family vacation. I highly recommend it for a relaxing retreat.

A very quaint hotel right by the lake. The hostess was wonderful and was able to accommodate our requests. The rooms were very cozy and while they may look outdated , they have everything you need or want in a hotel room. The restaurant was closed when we were there, but the general ambience was very warm and cozy. There is also a cute path to the lake and the view is just classic Houghton Lake. All in all, 10/10 would stay here again on my next visit.

This little place is amazing! The rooms are a bit small, but have everything you need. Very cozy and access to a huge balcony from the room with stunning views of the lake. Grounds are nice and easy to navigate, free coffee and a cute little library inside the hotel. A great location, close to everything nearby. Very well organized and very clean. The lady who checked us in and out was incredibly friendly and kind. Hotel is definitely haunted. Would return if back in area! Thank you!

We just returned from a two-day family vacation at Cedar Oak Lakeside Resort, and we couldn’t be happier with our experience! The resort is absolutely beautiful, offering stunning lake views, well-kept grounds, and a variety of activities that everyone in the family enjoyed. Although the rooms are a bit smaller, they have a charm to them that made our stay cozy and comfortable. The cabins, on the other hand, are spacious, clean, and felt like a home away from home. A special mention to Amanda, the resort manager, who was incredibly accommodating and attentive. Amanda went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, making our short getaway truly memorable. Her warm hospitality and professionalism really made a difference. From the charming accommodations to the excellent service, our time at Cedar Oak Lakeside Resort was fantastic. We highly recommend this resort for anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable family escape!

The resort manager was very friendly and informative. Our room was a bit dated, but it was built in 1889. It's a old place with a spooky feel at night. But I loved it. The history of the building was cool to learn. But their restaurant, Sully's On The Lake, is AMAZING. The head chef Kenny, was very engaged and informative about his menu he offers. You can tell he takes great pride in that delicious food he cooks. And the waitress Leah is incredibly friendly and entertained the kids throughout the dining area. Truly awesome and unique place. The sunset you get is UNMATCHED. This place is truly beautiful for its age. Which to me, adds to the beauty. We cut our stay short because of the cold rainy weather, but if the weather is in your favor, you will have an amazing time!

We had a very large family reunion here and it was amazing. The restaurant was so convenient and had amazing food. The lake was so beautiful and resort was very children friendly. Our room was very clean and more than sufficient for our stay. I recommend the resort to any and everyone. Perfect location to everything too.

Joann is the manager here and she is very kind. She told us all about the history of the hotel. They have been in the process of making renovations and have a lot of plans for the future, however it’s currently still a tad outdated. The location is super convenient and the rooms are affordable. Check in was at 3pm and they were lax about checkout around 10-11am. Every room has access to a long shared balcony. I’d suggest they section off the balcony so each room has its own private area. On the other hand, it’s a great option for families staying in rooms next to each other who want to spend time in a group. The rooms do have air conditioners, but because of the positioning, it often blows directly on the bed. The doors have chain and doorknob locks. Each room includes a fridge, medium sized dresser, and a TV on the wall. Bathrooms are clean and have a small window, but they could upgrade their towel quality. No elevator, so stairs are the only option for second floor rooms. Ice machine is out of order, but you can ask for ice at the front desk. There is a large suite located on the second floor that seems to have a great view of the lake, would be good for a family. Additionally, there is a restaurant on the first floor, although we were so busy we didn’t get a chance to eat there. Parking is available on site and we felt our vehicles were safe at all hours. Overall has more of a cabin/motel feel than a hotel, but has everything you’d need for a stay on the lake.
